Bethel Church was organized in 1864. The first services were held in a one room log cabin, which at that time, was also the community school house, just south of Bethel Cemetery.
The first Bethel Church building was built around 1874 and later burned. The land and cemetery had been donated by the John Madison Daniel family. The Daniels owned considerable real estate including a cotton gin, grocery

At Bethel Methodist Jacksonville, we believe in taking our faith beyond the walls of our church and into the world. We are involved in a variety of local and global outreach programs, from feeding the hungry.
As Methodists, we believe the church exists so that people far from God will find new life in Christ. We’re all on a journey and the Body of Christ (the Church) is a great place to discover what you believe in, to belong to something greater than yourself and to become the person God created you to be.
